首藤康之、近藤良平、松たか子、長塚圭史がコミカルで怖い
長塚圭史（作・演出）、近藤良平（振付・音楽）、首藤康之、松たか子の4人が、鏡のあちらとこちらで騒動を繰り広げる『かがみのかなたはたなかのなかに』。2015年の初演で評判をとった舞台が再演されることになり、12月5日(火)に新国立劇場で幕を開ける。2年前から何が進化し、どんな魅力が加わったのか？ 開演まで2週間を切った11月下旬、稽古場に足を運んだ。兵隊の“たなか（首藤）”と鏡の向こうの“かなた（近藤）”。同じく鏡を挟んで向き合う美女“けいこ（松）”と彼女とは全てが正反対の“こいけ（長塚）”。鏡を通してそれぞれの恋心や対抗心が交錯するが……。
鏡を挟んで対となるふたり（首藤×近藤／松×長塚）が、ぴったりと同じ動きを見せるのが本作の“肝”となる部分。再演とあって、基本的な動きは既に出来上がってはいるのだが、稽古場ではじっくりと丁寧にその動きの必然性や動機を探り、もう一度、構築し直していく様子が見られた。近藤や首藤の動きに対し、長塚から「そこに行くことが目的になってるのが見えちゃう」との指摘が飛び、ふたりは動きを合わせつつ、自然な動作を探求していく。長塚はこの“再構築”を「前作を踏襲しつつ、再演ではさらにディティールの精度を上げていきたい。初演時に勢いや高揚の中で何となくやっていた部分が気になってくるんですよ。よりロジカルに、そこにあったはずの“動機”をきちんと繋げていく作業が必要になる」と説明する。
共に高度な身体性を武器としつつ、筋肉の付き方から発想まで異なる個性を持つ首藤と近藤。見た目からして全く異なる松と長塚。異質な4人が鏡によって“縛り”を受けて動きをシンクロさせていく様子は、セリフなど無くとも、ただ動きを見ているだけで楽しい。中でも、唯一の女性として他の3人とは明らかに違うキャラクター性を発揮しているのが“けいこ”を演じる松だ。“たなか”と“かなた”の両者から熱烈なラブコールを送られ、ふたりの間を行き来する中で、徐々にその奥に隠された恐ろしい一面が見えてくるのだが、松は小悪魔のようにキュートに軽やかに舞台を駆け巡り、明るく怖い悪女を体現！ 長塚は「松さんは悪女が合う（笑）。自分がどう見えるのかしっかり研究してますよ。かわいいですね（笑）」と称賛する。
この笑いを誘いつつも、ひんやりと背筋が冷たくなるような怖さこそ本作の見どころ。「未来のおとなと、かつての子どもたちへ」と銘打って、大人のみならず子どもにも楽しんでもらうために企画された舞台だが、長塚はわかりやすい“子どもだまし”の作品を作る気は毛頭ない。「劇場ってそれだけでちょっと怖いんですよ。だから面白い。明るくフワフワした優しさと安全に包まれた場所ではなく、ちょっと猥雑で『え？ ここ入っていいの？』と思うような場所を作っているつもり」と見世物小屋の主人のような笑みを浮かべる。
一流の大人たちが真剣に作り上げたコミカルでゾッとするような世界を楽しんでほしい。公演は東京・新国立劇場にて12月5日(火)より上演。その後全国を巡演。
